Coronavirus & Your 2020 Wedding

March 17, 2020

It’s pretty safe to say that the world is in a pretty big panic right now. We have so many questions that no one really knows the answers to and we’re all here just taking it one day at a time. If you are planning your wedding for 2020, it’s very possible that you may have one (or many) alarming thoughts when it comes to your big day and what kind of impact the Coronavirus (COVID-19) will have on it.

First things first, do not cancel or reschedule your wedding due to fear of Coronavirus.

If you are getting married in March-May, you may be forced to do so but if you are getting married from June on, at this point you are better off to just wait it out for a bit. Ultimately its yours and your partners decision and if you think it’s for the best to reschedule that’s totally ok.

So, let’s take a deep breath and assess potential problems you may face and options you may have to consider to move forward.

Your wedding list has more than 50 guests invited, but the government has banned any social gatherings or events from happening:

  1. You could hold a small and more intimate event that better fits these restrictions and throw a big party a few months later. Limiting your guest list to less than 50 people will still allow you to have your day and celebrate with those you love the most. This will also save you the hassle of having to reschedule an event with 100+ guests.

  2. Reschedule your wedding for a later date. Many of you vendors should be more than able to find a mutually available date in 2020, especially if you consider a weekday wedding as they do not fill up as quickly as Saturdays do. Before deciding on a date, touch base with all of your vendors so you can reschedule with as many as possible.

  3. Follow through with your wedding as planned and Facebook live or Zoom call the day so that guests can still tune in and enjoy, but from the comfort of their own home.

  4. ELOPE! Get your marriage on with just you, your boo, and a handful of guests. We have some pretty epic locations up our sleeves, and you’ll be sure to find the perfect spot to say your vows and make this thing official! Considering eloping? We wrote a whole blog post about it here.

Whether if you are one of our clients or not, know that each and every vendor you hire should HAVE YOUR BACK!

We all need to take care of each other in these uncertain times. Nobody could have predicted any of this was going to happen a year ago, and we all have to do what we have to do to make your day as perfect and magical as you always imagined.

At the end of the day, the most important part is that the Coronavirus ain’t got nothin’ on you and your Boo. You can still get married to the love of your life and start this new season of life together. No matter how it happens, it’s your story and there is no wrong way to do it. Let’s be real, it’ll be a CRAZY story to tell when you’re old and grey.

With all our love,
Chris + Amber
