Getting married in Nova Scotia is a no brainer for a lot of couples whether they are local or not! Lots of couples are either living locally, or are from Nova Scotia. It’s what feels like home and it’s where most of their family still is. We are so lucky to have SO many options for venues, and no matter what vibe you’re looking for you’re sure to find the perfect fit. Being a wedding photographer in Halifax & Nova Scotia, Each year we get to photograph weddings at a lot of different locations, but here are five very different wedding venues we loved in Nova Scotia in 2019:
Here are five very different wedding venues we loved in Nova Scotia in 2019:
-
Lot Six
Lot Six is such a gorgeous location for a smaller, more intimate wedding. Weddings take place in the atrium and it is such a good mix of historic details, natural light and unique characteristics. It’s so fun because Argyle Street is typically closed to vehicle traffic on the weekends. This is an awesome bonus because you get the whole front of the restaurant, the patio and the road for your cocktail hour. Once the reception is set up and dinner is ready to be served all guests make their way back into the atrium for the most delicious seasonal meals you could ask for.

The Inverary Resort
The Inverary is a truly stunning location and such a beautiful location for not only a wedding but also a vacation! If you are looking for a resort type destination for your wedding while still staying in Nova Scotia, the Inverary is the spot for you. We all know that Cape Breton is so unbelievably beautiful and makes the perfect vacation spot for any person. The Iverary is located right on Bras D’ores Lake and right at the beginning (or the end – depending on which way you go) of the world famous Cabot Trail.
-
The Westin Nova Scotian
The Westin is such a great Halifax right in Downtown Halifax, not only are the ballrooms BEAUTIFUL (and newly renovated, by the way) but the event coordinator, Jeff is absolutely incredible and will make sure your wedding goes off without a hitch! The awesome thing about the Westin is that it’s right downtown and easy access for any guests coming from away, it’s nice and close to many different locations for photos (hello Point Pleasant Park, Public Gardens, the Waterfront and much more) and the seafood chowder is to DIE FOR! (can you tell we like food!? LOL).
-
The Seaport Farmers Market
Another amazing downtown location! Right on the waterfront, a rooftop patio, lots of natural light – it makes a truly breathtaking backdrop for any wedding. Don’t want to rent it for the entire night? That’s ok! Did you know that you can rent the rooftop patio for your wedding ceremony and then host your wedding elsewhere (such as East of Grafton or the Lower Deck?). Either way, making the farmers market as part of your wedding day is always a good idea.

Crystal Cliffs
Crystal cliffs is an awesome rustic barn location in Antigonish that is RIGHT ON THE BEACH, WHAT!? ok… not RIGHT on the beach, but it’s like a 2 minute walk from the main barn. How cool is that!? Another neat thing about this venue is that you have optionssss (everyone likes options, are we right?). We photographed two weddings there in July and both were totally different. One had the ceremony inside of one building and the reception inside the main barn and the other was primarily outdoors, with an outdoor ceremony under the trees, cocktail hour outside with lots of lawn games and then after they did the speeches and held the dance inside the main barn!
