Oceanstone Seaside Resort Wedding Styled Shoot
Welp, well we actually did it, we planned our very first wedding styled shoot at the beautiful Oceanstone Seaside Resort. We’ve been wanting to plan one for a while but it always felt so daunting even beginning in the planning process. I mean, it’s kind of like planning a mini wedding, minus the need for food. Just about everything you need for a wedding you also need for styled shoot. Cake, flowers, a dress, a tux, furniture, decorations, a venue, you name it, we needed it!
For the longest time we were almost afraid of planning something like this. Not sure if it seemed like “too much” or if it was the fear of rejection when reaching out to other vendors. When it comes to achieving your goals, growing your business and improving your skills for not only yourself but also your clients, you have to put yourself out there. You have to do things outside of your comfort zone. You have to ask for things because the worst that will happen is that someone says NO and in that case you just have to move on and try even harder.
We are still in complete awe really. This shoot turned out better than we could have ever imagined.
We had SO many amazing and talented vendors on board and each and every aspect came together so beautifully. To be honest, we had NO idea what kind of “look” we were going for initially. We spent the night on Pinterest throwing together a inspo board to show everyone we wanted to get involved.
We picked lots of blues and golds to match the bright and airy spaces Oceanstone has to offer. As well as the blue ocean backdrop their grounds offer. Looking back we probably could have given more instruction style wise other than “something blue”. However, it was important for us that everyone made something that they were excited about.
Being a creative, that is super important! It’s not very often that YOU get to pick what you make in the wedding industry. Because wedding days aren’t our day, it’s our clients day. In the end, it’s so so so important to create the vision they are looking for.
A special thanks to:
Caitlin from Gray Weddings & Events for helping us plan and organize this day to not only make it run so smoothly, but also help arrange meetings with vendors prior to the shoot.
Oceanstone for their amazing property, Their Grand Room where weddings take place is absolutely stunning and their Captains House Cottage we used to get ready in and the beautiful rocky & beachy backyard right made for the perfect backdrop, if you are getting married in Nova Scotia or in the Halifax area Oceanstone is a must see!
Fireworks Gallery for lending us the most beautiful rings and earrings for the Bride and Groom, they design the most gorgeous and unique jewellery and everyone was obsessing over each and every piece all day long.
Little Thistle Floral Design for creating a stunning bouquet, boutonniere and floral arrangement, the Earl Grey roses with the blue thistles and blue berries made for the most amazing Nova Scotian look and it complimented each and every part of the shoot perfectly.
Blush & Faire Creative for the stunning hand lettered stationery, she created so many beautiful pieces on handmade paper and really outdid herself ensuring that each and every piece of beautiful calligraphed stationery we could ever dream of was included (plus look at the colour of those envelopes! They matched PERFECTLY!).
Staged for Upsell for the beautiful rental furniture pieces, her head table, cake table, chairs, love seat AND rugs fit our vision perfectly!
Danielle Grasley Makeup for the amazing job on the hair and makeup, the bride looked absolutely perfect and she made some magic with adding a little bit of florals in her hair, plus she was the one who kicked us into gear to actually plan this thing!
Something Borrowed Vintage Rentals for the amazing brass candlesticks, they were EXACTLY what we were looking for.
Lemon and Lavender Bake Shop for the absolutely stunning cake, it was perfect and oh so yummy (perks of the job, eh haha).
Katrina Tuttle Bridal for supplying the dress, it was probably the most beautiful dress we’ve ever set our eyes on, so beautifully crafted and it fit the bride to a T.
And last but not least, Rebecca and Spencer for bringing the heat, being oh so cute and being OK with a little PDA in front of a bunch of people LOL LOVE YOU.
We are SO lucky that we have so much talent here in Halifax, and that get to work with all of these amazing people! We hope everyone enjoys these Oceanstone Wedding Styled Shoot images as much as we do
